The situation

Harbor Bank lost most new accounts between sign-up and first card use. The app asked for nineteen pieces of information before showing a single balance.

The approach

We moved identity checks behind a usable account, so a new customer can see, fund and freeze a virtual card inside six minutes. Twelve field interviews in three branches shaped the order of every screen.

Accessibility

Every flow passed WCAG AA with VoiceOver and TalkBack, and the whole app works at 200% text size.

What changed

Card activation in the first week rose 38%, and support calls about onboarding halved.
